Mr. John Berdner joined SolarEdge as General Manager for North America in April 2010, to expand the company’s presence into the rapidly developing North American market. A true pioneer in the solar community, Mr. Berdner came to SolarEdge with 27 years experience and an extensive depth of knowledge of the US solar marketplace.  

From June 2008 to March 2010, Mr. Berdner was Vice President of Technology for GroSolar, one of the largest US distributors of solar products.  For eight years prior to that Mr. Berdner was the Founder and served as President of SMA America, Inc.   Under his leadership SMA America grew from a small startup to the market leader for PV inverters in the US.  During this time Mr. Berdner was the recipient of two Frost and Sullivan Awards for excellence in the field of power electronics. 

Mr. Berdner holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis, and has authored several technical papers and articles in the field of Photovoltaics.  He is an active member of the regulatory compliance community and has served on numerous technical panels responsible for development of US Codes and Standards.
