Embedded Control Algorithms Designer

Job Description

SolarEdge is a global leader in the solar industry, manufacturing smart energy solutions that include intelligent inverters and storage systems, revolutionary EV charger, smart energy modules, smart home modules and grid services. SolarEdge is changing the way electricity is being produced and consumed.

The Embedded control team develop SW products that create the basic building blocks of the SolarEdge system and deal with various fields - power conversion algorithmic, communication algorithmic, optimizations, RT problems on different platforms - DSPs, Company’s ASIC and digital controlled power converters for photo-voltaic power systems. Our technological challenges taking part in the following fields: power electronics, digital close loop control and digital signal processing algorithms implemented on company’s microprocessors.

In this position, you will take part in developing advanced control algorithms and software for SolarEdge’s state of the art products.


Job Description:

  • Work with HW teams from the concept phase to optimize control options. Including concepts like sensor-placement, sensor types, control topologies, and balancing performance vs. cost.
  • Design and develop closed-loop control algorithms.
  • Implement these algorithms in C, for initial control software, used in both software and hardware in-the-loop simulations.
  • Evaluate the performance of these algorithms in simulation and on early development hardware.
  • Perform design-trade-studies on algorithm options with attention to performance – both in the control and real-time domains.
  • Hand-off developed simulations and controls to other Embedded Control teams for subsequent development.
  • Work closely with other Embedded Control teams to debug and improve the control in existing products.


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of experience in control systems design and embedded systems development.
  • Deep experience in RT Embedded SW development, including complex tradeoffs to balance performance.
  • Deep experience in designing DSP or close loop control algorithms.
  • Experience in using algorithm simulation tools such as MATLAB + Simulink, PLECS.
  • Advantage - Experienced in designing close loop control for power converters.
  • Advantage - Experience in simulation of power electronics components (DC/DC, AC/DC, DC/AC and AC/AC converters).
  •  Advantage - Hands on experience in power electronics hardware development including design, debugging, and validation.
