Environmental Sensors

Environmental Sensors

Use SolarEdge’s environmental sensors to monitor commercial sites’ irradiance, temperature, and wind velocity, and to calculate site performance ratio (PR)*.

*The ratio between actual production of a PV system and received solar irradiation onsite. Used to evaluate system quality.

Easy connectivity via the Commercial Gateway

Each sensor connects to the SolarEdge Commercial Gateway, with the sensor measurements displayed in the Monitoring Platform. Up to three sensors can be connected to a single Commercial Gateway. Additional sensors can be installed using multiple gateways.

  • The Irradiance Sensor is a high-quality solar cell that measures solar irradiance levels for commercial PV systems. The sensor's irradiance output signal is 0 to 1V covering a 0 to 1000W/m2 range
  • The Ambient Temperature Sensor measures the temperature of the site’s immediate surroundings, with a measurement signal of 0 to 10V covering a -40 to +90°C range
  • The Panel Temperature Sensor measures the temperature at the back of the PV panel, with a measurement signal of 4 to 20mA covering a -40 to +90°C range
  • The Wind Sensor provides highly accurate and robust wind horizontal velocity measurements. Its sensor's output signal is 4 to 20mA covering a 0 to 50 m/s range
