Fuel Your Car on Sunshine

Passing the petrol station and driving straight home to charge your electric car in your garage brings a sense of empowerment. But just like in the past when you would try to find the petrol station with the lowest prices, there are different ways to charge your EV that can save you money as well.

Whether you have dynamic pricing or a flat rate from your power company, using a home solar energy system gives you control over the way you produce, store, and consume your own power. For example, charging an EV at off-peak times can significantly reduce your electricity bills but for the ultimate in smart energy living, fuel your car in the sunshine.

Neil from Sydney installed a SolarEdge system complete with EV charger at this home. This was his experience.

When we made the decision to purchase our first EV, I went straight to SolarEdge to enquire about the EV charger. We have the charger set to only charge with our excess solar and although we can go into the app and activate a ‘Solar boost mode’ (combining grid and solar energy) we have only needed this once in 6 months, so we are essentially charging our car for free. We are a busy family of 4 and we cannot rely on public EV charging, so utilising our solar to charge our EV was important to us from a financial, environmental, and convenience standpoint. The SolarEdge Home EV charger has justified our decision to go with SolarEdge and we have had a fantastic experience with it.

Experience a Seamless Driving Experience

A SolarEdge energy system does more than just convert sunlight into DC power. For example, the SolarEdge Home smart energy ecosystem features an optional integrated Level 2 EV Charger. It’s algorithm-based energy management system knows when to use free solar power, stored power, or low cost (off peak) grid power for EV charging to maximise homeowner savings. With SolarEdge monitoring software, you can see how much energy your solar panels are generating, and how you are using it, leading to smarter and more cost-effective EV charging.

For Neil, having the SolarEdge Home EV charger as part of his smart energy ecosystem means less stress when charging his EV. The level 2 charger delivers a seamless driving experience of faster charges, from free sunshine.
