How does this work?
- Provide some details of where you live, so we can identify your local grid operator
- Register and connect your battery. No extra hardware needed
- Our Partners Axle Energy will send you an email to let you know everything is ready to go
We'll adjust your charging occasionally
When the grid is strained, we'll adjust your battery's charging. Often this will be a 30-minute discharge, but we may schedule shorter or longer charges or discharges depending upon the needs of the grid. If we used your battery, we’ll pay you £0.20-£2.00 per kWh at the end of the month.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do now?
It takes about 2 minutes to sign up. With your permission, Axle Energy will connect to your smart meter and SolarEdge battery. Axle Energy will then register your details with the grid operator. That's it - you don't need to do anything else!
How much could I be rewarded?
You could earn up to £250 over winter with your SolarEdge battery. Actual earnings will vary based on geographic location. Earnings in certain regions may be higher or lower than the stated amount. At the end of each month, you'll receive an email with details on how much you supported the grid and how much you earned, along with a link to cash out your earnings.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible, you’ll need to be in Great Britain, and have a SolarEdge battery at home or at a business where you hold authority over electricity and battery use. You're not eligible if your battery is controlled by another service or home automation system.
Different local grids need help at different times. How much your battery is used will depend on your location and other factors, like your battery State of Charge at times of need.

How do I participate in an event? What do I need to do?
Participation is fully automated - you don’t need to do anything once you've signed up. You’ll still make the most of your solar generation, if you have solar panels.
We'll always take your tariff into account when adjusting your charging, so if we need to charge the battery, we'll do so at the cheapest time for you.
Why do you need to connect to my battery?
We need to connect to your battery so we can automatically adjust your battery charging/discharging when the grid is strained.
How do I connect my battery?
When you sign up, our partner Axle Energy will connect to your smart meter and SolarEdge battery. You don't need to do anything else.
How will my earnings be calculated?
If we used your battery, we’ll pay you £0.20-£2.00 per kWh, relative to a baseline of how much energy you normally use at that time. The price per kWh will vary based on the needs of your local grid and the price the grid operator is paying for support.
How do I keep track of my rewards?
At the end of each month that you've participated we'll email you with a link to your balance page. You can access this balance page at any time.
When will I get rewarded?
You can cash out your earnings once your balance is more than £10. We’ll also ask you to cash out at the end of the programme.
How do I cash out my rewards?
You can cash out your earnings once your balance is more than £10. We'll pay you via bank transfer.
When will the events be?
Events are whenever the grid is strained; this is most commonly in the evenings over winter, but can happen at any time of day and any day of the year.
Is this compatible with a Time of Use profile?
This programme doesn’t yet support systems in any time of use mode. In order to participate, your battery must be set to Maximum Self Consumption Mode (MSC).
What if I have solar? Will I still use the solar energy for my home?
Yes. If you have solar, your battery will still charge with your solar generation, which will then be used to power your home.
How will I be notified?
We'll send you an email letting you know we'll be making changes to your battery. At the end of each month, we'll let you know what events you've participated in, and how much you've earned.
How do I opt out?
If you’d like to fully opt out, send an email to ukflex@solaredge.com, with the subject line “Opt Out”, and include your name and address.
Does this impact my current tariff or export programme?
This won't impact your import or export tariff - this is entirely independent of your tariff. You'll still be paid to export under your tariff, and your earnings through this program will be in addition to that.
Is this compatible with Octopus Flux?
Yes! We'll always take your tariff into account when adjusting your charging. If we shift your charging from off-peak to peak or export from peak to off-peak, we'll compensate you. Note that this isn't compatible with any tariffs that control your battery.
Who is paying for this?
We'll respond to signals from the Electricity System Operator (ESO) and your local Distribution System Operator (DSO). The ESO is responsible for the whole of the UK. There are 6 DSOs in the UK, and all of them run programmes to limit strain on the grid.
How long will this run for?
This programme doesn’t have an end date. Grids are typically more strained in the winter.
Do I still have control over my battery?
Yes. You will always be able to manually override any settings that we send.
What if I already have a charge schedule? Will I lose it?
We'll adjust your charge schedule as necessary and then reset it immediately after the event. You can also re-adjust the schedule from the MySolarEdge app if it doesn’t suit your needs.
Will you be discharging my battery?
We will sometimes discharge your battery to help the grid. We'll never discharge your battery below the Reserve limit you set in your MySolarEdge app.
What batteries models can be use on as part of this scheme?
The ‘SolarEdge Home Battery 400V’ and the’ SolarEdge Home Battery 48V’.
