How It Works

01

Use Your Solar

During regular use, your home uses energy from your PV system and complements it with energy from your battery and/or the grid.

02

Support the Grid

During a peak demand event, your battery discharges at the maximum supported power. If your home needs more energy than your solar and battery can provide, you can still use the grid.

03

Recharge & Stay Powered

After the event ends, your battery recharges from your PV system. During a blackout, your battery can help keep the lights on.

To participate, your system must be installed, have received PTO, and be connected to the SolarEdge Monitoring portal.

FAQs

Am I eligible for the program?

If you own a SolarEdge inverter that is connected to the SolarEdge monitoring platform, you should submit the application and your utility will evaluate your eligibility.

How do I know when there is a dispatch event?

Your system can be dispatched up to 60 times per year during peak demand hours. You’ll be notified by email when events are scheduled, typically by 2 p.m. Eastern the day ahead. You can opt-out from individual adjustment events by following the opt-out link in the event notification email. Note that any event opt-outs will reduce the incentive you will be eligible to receive.

How much money can I earn with the ConnectedSolutions program?

A typical SolarEdge one home battery system or 3 block SolarEdge Nexis system can earn up to $4000 over the 5 year program.

What are some of the factors that can influence the performance of my system?

Under the program rules, PV energy production is always prioritized over dispatch of battery energy and your incentive is based on dispatch performance of your battery.

Several factors influence the performance of your system including your PV array size and orientation, inverter rated power, number of batteries, energy available in your battery at the time of the event, the time of the day and solar generation during events, the time and solar generation between events and more.

When will I get paid for participating in this program?

National Grid, Eversource or Cape Light Compact are responsible for issuing the payment directly to you via check.
You should expect to see a check from:

  • National Grid, within 12 weeks of the end of the Summer or Winter season.
  • Eversource, within 10 weeks of the end of the Summer or Winter season.
  • Cape Light Compact, within 10 weeks of the end of the Summer or Winter season.

How to Apply?

Ensure your system is installed, has received permission to operate, and has been registered to the SolarEdge Monitoring Portal. Once this is complete, click the enrollment link above that corresponds to your utility, and provide the desired information. Once you submit this enrollment request you will receive email updates confirming receipt of your application, and later confirming your accepted enrollment in the program.

Can I retrofit my solar energy system with a SolarEdge battery?

Yes, you can add a SolarEdge battery to an existing solar energy system. Ask your SolarEdge installer how.
