By enrolling your qualifying battery system in Power Partner Battery, you can earn rewards for allowing Austin Energy to use energy stored in your battery during times of high electricity demand.
Customers who participate allow shared stored battery energy to support the grid when demand is high. In return, Austin Energy provides rewards based on the energy contributed during these events.
Participants may receive:
- $500 enrollment incentive for each new system installed after Feb 18, 2025
- Seasonal rewards up to $75 per kW based on the average power discharged from your battery over the season
At $75 per kW, a battery contributing 3.6 kW could earn up to $270 per battery during the season.
Power Partner Battery operates year-round, with events typically occurring between 6 am and 10 pm, depending on grid needs.

Austin Energy Power Partner Battery is a utility program that compensates customers for sharing stored energy from their home battery when the electric grid needs it. Customers receive rewards based on the average kilowatt (kW) their battery contributes during demand events.
Am I eligible to enroll in Power Partner Battery?
To be eligible to enroll, you must:
- Be an Austin Energy residential electric customer with the electric service in your name
- Have solar installed at your home
- Own a qualifying SolarEdge Home Battery system
- Maintain a reliable internet connection between your SolarEdge monitoring system and your home battery
How much money can I earn with Power Partner Battery?
Your earning potential depends on how much energy your battery contributes during demand events.
Austin Energy offers seasonal rewards up to $75 per kW across events. Customers with qualifying systems installed after Feb 18, 2025 may also receive a $500 enrollment incentive.
Depending on battery capacity and participation during events, customers may earn up to about $270 per battery per season.
Actual rewards vary based on battery capacity and performance during grid demand events.
Are there penalties for underperformance or opting out?
No. You decide how much energy your battery contributes during demand events. Rewards are based on the average kilowatt contribution during these events. If your battery contributes less energy, the rewards you receive may be lower.

Will I still have backup in case of a power outage?
Yes. The program will not discharge your battery below 20% state of energy
Can I participate with an existing SolarEdge Home Battery?
Yes! If you meet the eligibility requirements and have a current Home Battery model, you can enroll. The battery models that qualify include:
SE3000H-US, SE3800H-US, SE6000H-US, SE7600H-US, SE10000H-US, SE11400H-US inverters paired with BAT-10K1P, LG CHEM RESU10H
Can I unenroll at any time from the program?
Yes. You can choose to unenroll from Power Partner Battery. However, you must stay enrolled through the end of a program season for seasonal rewards to be calculated and applied.
