FAQs

How does the ConEd BYOB Program work?

The BYOB Program allows ConEd to draw energy from participating batteries during periods of peak demand. In return, customers can earn annual performance-based incentives based on their battery’s contribution during called events.

Who is eligible to participate?

The program is open to ConEd customers with a qualifying storage system and a utility-approved interconnection. Customers must also be eligible under Rider L in the Con Edison electric tariff.

How are incentives calculated?

Incentives are based on your battery’s average performance across events during the summer capability period. The seasonal performance is multiplied by the program’s incentive rate to determine the total incentive amount.

How many events can occur during the summer?

ConEd may call approximately 3–6 events during the summer. During these events, participating batteries discharge energy to help support the grid.

How will I receive my incentive?

Incentive payments may be paid directly to the customer or to the service provider if the battery is under a lease or financing agreement.

How do I enroll?

The ConEd BYOB Program is designed for eligible customers with a qualifying storage system and utility-approved interconnection. Enrollment details are provided through the program’s enrollment flow.
