What is the Gexa Battery Benefits program?
To help reduce the likelihood of outages, and support Texas’s electric grid, Gexa Energy is paying customers to share the excess solar energy stored in their batteries. During key times of the year, Gexa will discharge a portion of customers’ batteries to reduce electric costs and stabilize the grid.
Am I eligible for Gexa Energy’s Battery Benefits program?
To be eligible for the program, you must:
- Be an existing Gexa Energy customer or switch to a Gexa Energy electric plan. Learn more here.
- Own or lease a SolarEdge Home Battery under an active/signed interconnection agreement
- Agree to Gexa’s terms and conditions, allowing Gexa to discharge of a portion of your battery during key times, to monitor your system data and share it with participating third parties.
- Have and maintain a stable internet or cellular connection from the SolarEdge cloud to your inverter and battery system.
How much money can I earn through the Gexa Battery Benefits program?
Gexa will provide you with a $50 reward each billing cycle for active participation in the Program.
Are there penalties for underperformance during events?
No, there are no penalties for underperformance, however awards are subject to system being paired for the duration of the billing period.

If I enroll, will I still have backup if the power goes out?
Gexa will never discharge more than 20% of your battery. During outages and non-event periods, your whole battery system will be made available for your use.
If I already have a SolarEdge Home Battery, can I still participate?
Yes! Homeowners with existing SolarEdge Home Batteries, who meet the eligibility criteria, are eligible to participate in the Battery Benefits program.
Can I unenroll from the program?
- You may opt out of the Gexa’s Battery Benefits Program at any time by contacting Gexa at 1-877-958-1498.
- Your participation in the program will automatically be cancelled if you no longer receive electric service from Gexa.
