Quadran Installs 4.4MW SolarEdge System on Stadium Carport in France

LYON, FRANCE – Quadran, an independent leader of green energy production in France, installs a 4.4MW SolarEdge system on the carport of a local rugby stadium of ASBH in France. The move to install a PV system optimized by SolarEdge on the grounds surrounding the stadium is part of the Midi-Pyrenees region’s green investment initiative.

SolarEdge was selected as the inverter solution on account of the increased energy production that the DC optimized technology provides the system. The increased energy production was especially important due to the difficult site conditions, which include complex structures and obstructions. The longer strings allowed by SolarEdge technology reduced the cost of Balance of System components such as cables, connectors and fuses, helping to further improve the system return on investment (RoI). In addition, the enhanced safety and operations and maintenance (O&M) provided by SolarEdge’s module-level management and monitoring were essential selection factors.

“As this is a significant investment and long-term asset, it was important to us to provide a system that delivers the most value over the systems lifetime,” stated Frederic Berindei, Project Manager, Quadran Energies Libres. “The increased energy gained from SolarEdge’s optimization and the higher system uptime enabled by the module-level monitoring were significant factors in the selection process."

This confidence in SolarEdge’s technology ability to increase system energy is based on Quadran’s previous experience retrofitting a number of existing systems with SolarEdge. After being impressed with the technology’s ability to mitigate mismatch related energy losses and improve energy generation, Quadran decided to use SolarEdge on this project.

“SolarEdge’s inverter technology allowed us to design the system with significantly longer strings,” stated Jeremy Mayer, Project Manager, Bouygues Energies and Services, the EPC company for the site. “This not only significantly decreased the upfront BoS costs to lower the system owner’s CAPEX and help us provide a competitive quote, but also simplified the system design stage."

“As a leading global inverter company, SolarEdge is committed to delivering innovative and cost-effective commercial solutions,” stated Alfred Karlstetter, General Manager of SolarEdge Europe. “This installation is an excellent illustration of the added value SolarEdge provides throughout the commercial PV supply chain and system lifetime –design, installation and lifetime O&M."
