Changing Your Battery Minimum Discharge Level

Thank you for choosing the StorEdge Solution with LG Chem RESU high voltage batteries.

To protect your battery and extend its lifetime, SolarEdge has preset the system to maintain a minimum battery state of energy (SOE) level. This protects the battery from reaching full discharge when the grid is off for a prolonged period of time, or when the circuit breaker of the inverter in the electric cabinet is flipped off and not turned back on for an extended period of time. As currently set, in such situations, the battery will be able to withstand 2 weeks until it is fully drained. If the battery is fully discharged, the battery will fail and require an LG field technician to perform repairs onsite, and in some cases an expensive battery replacement will be needed.

SolarEdge recommends maintaining this preset minimum SOE value, to minimize the chances of full battery discharge.

At the discretion of a homeowner, the minimum value of the SOE level can be reduced down to 5%, with the following implications: .

• In a situation in which the grid is off for a prolonged period of time, or the circuit breaker of the inverter is flipped off without resetting it, the battery will be fully drained – see below representative operational times per different SOE levels:

* These are estimates and depend upon LG Chem self-discharge estimations. During this period, the grid issue must be resolved and the inverter must be turned on to avoid a potential battery failure.
